Getting There

By air

The construction project of the new Terminal of the Donetsk International Airport envisages all the necessary accessories and measures to ensure accessibility for people with limited physical opportunities: 20 elevators of different carrying capacity, 18 escalators, 16 special toilets, 61 parking slots at the multi-level garage and 45 slots at car parkings, accommodated driveways and pathways, ramps, etc. After concluding all the control and clearance procedures passengers with limited mobility will be delivered to the board of the plane with the support of the air company staff by boarding bridges and/or ambulifts for people with disabilities.

You can use the support service of the airport by notifying:

• At the cash desk of the airline company while tickets purchase;
• A stewardess at the board of the plane;
• A worker of the information desk at the airport.

Cash desks are accessible for people with disabilities.Support is provided since the moment of appeal, during passport check and customs clearance procedures and to the car parking space.The new Terminal of Donetsk airport will be put into service in April – May, 2012, currently operational testing of systems and services is taking place.For the moment old Terminal of Donetsk airport is in service, which will not be employed during EURO 2012.

Currently following accessories for people with disabilities are available at the building of old Terminal:

• ramp to the central entrance;
• one specialized toilet at the first floor;
• glassy doors have contrast marking at eye level;
• big contrasting піктограми are available.

Support for people with disabilities starts when they apply to first aid office situated at the first floor right after arrival to the airport or as result of preliminary call to the phone number: +380 (62) 344-72-03. First aid office staff will organize further support up to the board of the plane with the help of the trained staff of the airport.Registration to the international flights takes place at the second floor. Relatives or companions from air company go through the registration procedure instead of the person with disability; the person with disability doesn’t’t have to go to the second floor – passport control will be organized at first floor by the authorized.
 

By Train

For today Donetsk railway system has three special carriages for people with limited physical opportunities. When you purchase a ticket you need to make it clear that a person with disability will be travelling, and such carriage will be included in the train set.
You can use the services provided by the support service at the railway station by notifying:

• A duty officer at the waiting space for people with disabilities,
• A passenger carriage attendant before the beginning of travel by railway.

Since the 1st of May applications for provision of support to people with disabilities will be accepted by the duty officer of the special waiting space for people with disabilities. Special telephone line will be established for this purpose. Till that time all the questions regarding support are referred to the duty officer and at the first aid office.
